About Alex Owczarek
During my four years at PS 132 in Brooklyn, I have worked with underserved youth within a physical education program that I built from the ground up. In my first year of employment, I was tasked with developing a physical education program with little to no equipment, no gymnasium, and sometimes no classroom. For this work, I was nominated to be a facilitator of a Professional Learning Community for other physical education teachers in District 14. I additionally have experience outside of the city collaborating and co-teaching in a physical education setting. I believe that developing the skills for lifelong fitness and maintaining healthy behaviors is crucial for student success. My goal is for my students to learn the components of good health and become advocates for their friends, their family, and themselves.
