About Alex Purcell
My experiences started with Hitachi as an apprentice in 2005 as soon as I finished school, it was what I always wanted to do and was lucky enough to get a start. I'm still currently employed with Hitachi as a 24/7 field service plant mechanic, my strong point is definitely hydraulics. I enjoy troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on all machines but mainly prefer excavators. I have done plenty of work in our workshop as well doing component rebuilds. During my apprenticeship I got the chance to work at Cummins rebuild centre to learn about the engines in our machines but most importantly I learnt the art of job cleanliness! I have spent most of my time working in the mines surrounding the Hunter Valley and also as far out west like Gunnedah. I have also done my S1 S2 and S3 supervisors training then was a leading hand at Liddell coal for Hitachi on the MARC contract for 2 years, looking after an 18 truck fleet of and an face shovel (breakdowns, servicing etc) And latest news, I have now transferred to our gunnedah branch with Hitachi and am still a field service plant mechanic. We have a lot more machines up here and looking forward to the challenge of interacting more with customers and taking on more work etc. good times ahead
