About Alex Reed

I’m a Software Engineer at the BBC with a First Class Honours degree in Software Engineering and proven experience delivering impactful digital products used by millions. I’ve worked across multiple teams building and maintaining systems and products for the BBC’s huge audience — from the APIs that power its core websites and apps (handling over 1.5 million requests per minute), to the BBC Sounds iOS app (1M+ weekly users), CBeebies mobile apps, and the data experiences behind BBC Sport (38M+ weekly visits). My work has spanned front-end and back-end development, iOS and Android apps, cloud infrastructure, and data pipelines — using technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Swift, Kotlin, AWS, and more. I thrive in high-pressure environments where reliability, performance, and user experience matter most. Whether it’s reducing response times, re-architecting core components, or delivering new features to a nationwide audience, I’m motivated by solving real problems in efficient and extensible ways.
