About Alex Robert

Master’s-level economist with a record of delivering analytical and research-driven work across academic, public sector, and professional sports settings. I bring a distinctive mix of technical training in data and financial analysis, combined with the discipline and execution developed through playing professional hockey in the Elite Ice Hockey League. My research has explored the labour market impacts of the Americans with Disabilities Act, transportation shifts from British Columbia’s carbon tax, and how judicial performance affects foreign investment. I’ve worked with large, complex datasets using methods such as Difference-in-Differences, propensity score matching, and instrumental variables, and have built analytical tools and visual reports using R, Python, Stata, Excel, and Power BI. In the public sector, I supported the modernization of the City of Ottawa’s service request system by testing and providing recommendations for a new software platform. I’ve presented findings to management and academic audiences, and I’ve also mentored undergraduate researchers in quantitative methods. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate methods clearly and work effectively across diverse stakeholders and environments.
