About Alex Robles

I’m a fourth-year Environmental Engineering undergraduate student at Seattle University. I enjoy working out, camping and skiing. I became an Eagle Scout in 2019 and since 2020 I have been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. I currently own an environmentally-friendly athletic clothing company (missionecowear.com). We sell affordable, quality clothing made from recycled and organic materials shipped in mailers made from recycled materials with carbon-neutral shipping. The environment is something I am very passionate about and this is an outlet for me to channel this passion and do something good with it. Since I was young, I've always been drawn towards math and science. Even in elementary school, I remember looking at the sports section in the San Francisco Chronicle at the stats for the giants and running my own statistical analysis with the minimal math I knew at the time. Since then, I continued pursuing my education in STEM specifically at Saint Joseph Notre Dame (my high school) and by pursuing an Environmental Engineering degree (with Environmental Science and Mathematics minors) at Seattle University. I've always been taught about and recognized the problems with the climate and pollution in our world. In high school, I joined the Youth Environmental Activists club which really opened my mind to how important the issues of sustainability and pollution are in our current world. It also opened my mind to how little is being done to mitigate these problems which will continue to compound in the following years and have already shown themselves through increases in extreme weather, natural disasters and species extinction rate. I combined my interest in math with my passion for the environment to pursue a degree in Environmental Engineering (with minors in Mathematics and Environmental Science).
