About Alex Ryan

Alex is a Director (Investments) at the Canada Infrastructure Bank, a crown corporation and impact investor supporting projects in the public interest. Alex leads projects in the bank's Clean Power priority sector, which have included investments in renewable or low-carbon power generation, power transmission, battery storage, and district energy systems. Alex also oversees projects under the bank’s Infrastructure for Housing Initiative, which includes all forms of infrastructure under the bank's mandate which is necessary for new housing development. Outside of work, Alex serves as a board member and as treasurer of the Thames Valley Education Foundation. Before joining CIB, Alex led project finance teams at Graham and Operis (founding its Toronto office). Within project finance, he has authored sustainable financing frameworks, conducted project finance advisory, financial modelling, equity investing, and Project Company board director roles. Within corporate finance and development, he has also conducted credit and competition analysis, economic/industry analysis, and M&A and capital raise processes. Alex is a CFA charterholder, after having passed all three examinations at first attempt. He also holds a First Class Honours in Mathematics and Economics from Warwick University, where he held a Warwick Sport Scholarship for basketball.
