About Alex Schell

Alex graduated from Antioch University, a COAMFTE accredited university, with an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and specialized training in grief and trauma-informed practice. She also holds a B.F.A. in Dance from New York University. Alex is a certified Prepare/Enrich counselor with premarital counseling experience and has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Whether working with an individual, couple, or family, Alex’s therapeutic style is highly collaborative, empathetic, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed. Her training is rooted in relational and systems-based theory with the intention of treating clients holistically. In addition to traditional talk therapy techniques, Alex often incorporates elements of somatic awareness and mindfulness honed from previous careers in dance and yoga. Alex has a special affinity for working with LGBTQIA2S+ clients, artists, and performers. Her time with clients has focused primarily on the following themes: increasing positive communication with self and others, exploring attachment style, sex and sexuality, polyamory and consensual nonmonogamy, processing infidelity, body image perception, self-acceptance, and matters related to trauma and grief.
