About Alex Schumann

Looking for career opportunities in social development work in the labour sector- specifically ethical working conditions and labour creating in the agrarian sector. To date, my experience has been in primarily specialty coffee farming, and I have obtained both academic and practical experience concerning the development of this area in the African smallholder realm especially. These past years I have combined my existing knowledge of the specialty coffee sector, working with migrant labourers in the coffee industry and my desire to move further into the realm of conflict, by pursuing a masters degree in Development and Labour at SOAS, in London. It has allowed me to place my experiences and knowledge of challenges facing the coffee production industry in the greater global context of economic growth, urban development and international trading systems.
