About Alex Stansfield

As a science teacher at Matthew Moss High School, I am passionate about inspiring and educating the next generation of scientists and innovators. I teach biology, chemistry, and physics to students of different ages and abilities, using engaging and interactive methods to foster their curiosity and understanding of the natural world. I have a strong background in biomedical sciences, with a BS from Northumbria University and a Pgce from The Manchester Metropolitan University. During my undergraduate degree, I researched the articulation of key scientific skills and how they can be applied in the job market post graduation. This work has been recognised and published in a HE employability journal. I have also gained valuable experience in various clinical and medical fields, such as microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology, where I developed my skills in lab procedures, data analysis, and Microsoft Excel. I leverage my knowledge and expertise to enrich my teaching and connect the scientific concepts to real-life applications and scenarios.
