Background
About Alex Stengel
Currently, I'm working on my undergraduate degree from George Washington University with a major in Political Science and a minor in Psychology, and the goal of attending GW law school. Friends and family describe me as someone focused on the well-being of others, hard-working, resourceful, with integrity, and with a desire to solve problems. College is expensive, and student debt is crippling; one of the reasons I decided to obtain my real estate license; is to help me afford my academic pursuits and pursue my desire to help others. My path to where I am today has developed naturally. Seven summers ago, I attended a language immersion program in Costa Rica. I loved it so much that I went back the following summer. Not only did I like improving my communication skills in Spanish, but I truly enjoyed interacting with the locals and helping them build their communities. A year later I attended a program at the RAC (Religious Action Committee) where we focused on developing lobbying skills which led me to work on a local political campaign for the Maryland House of Delegates. The following summer I participated in the Harvard Model UN summer program, where I concentrated on improving my leadership, negotiation, and conflict management skills in order to become the President of my Model UN club. This past year, I was named the President of GWU Esports. I have earned academic accolades, from an Honors diploma in high school to a Deans' list in university. But, the Headmasters Award for earning the most volunteer hours in a single academic year is the one I am most proud of. This was accomplished during my volunteer activities on Amy Blank's run for House of Delegates. I found the education and direct access to the campaign inspiring. I was designated as the Teen Leader, which afforded me many perks, including conversations with our State Senators, Chris Van Hollen and Benjamin Cardin, direct access to the late Elijah Cummings, and others. My experience on this campaign spurred my desire to launch the first political action club at my high school,"Action Above Apathy." In the first year, we had a handful of active student participants. By the following year, the club grew to nearly 20+ members of our 280-person student body. Working with others and helping them realize their goals greatly means a lot. I hope you will think of me if you know someone looking to buy or sell a home.
