About Alex Tetzner

I am a Cinematographer and Filmmaker currently attending Arizona State University. I was born and raised in the small town of Page Arizona, and have been doing everything I can to pursue my passion for film for over 8 years. I have a liking for visual storytelling; whether it’s through Film, Photography, or Graphic Design, I have a love for Digital Media. I had a huge attraction to legos as a kid. Building Legos eventually led to the desire to make lego stop-motion films, which led to just films in general. I often see the parallels of building camera rigs and building Legos; just always looking for the piece that makes everything fit just right. In this past year at ASU, I have accumulated over 30 Director of Photography credits among several student shorts and various other freelance projects. Many of my projects have gone on to be presented in film festivals across the country. Examples include the short film ‘Meat Head,’ which was showcased at the 2017 Oregon Film Festival, the 2017 Austin Spotlight Festival, and won “Best Picture,” and “Achievement in Cinematography” in the 2018 ASU Film Festival. Other awards include “Best Cinematography” for my short film ‘Across’ in the 2018 Film Festival and a “Superior” rating for the JEA national sports photography competition. I also have a love the outdoors and nature. I enjoy backpacking through the Arizona desert with every piece of camera gear I can carry, often stumbling through the darkness in pursuit of some good stars. I am expected to graduate ASU in 2019 with a Degree in Film and Media Production with a minor in Business.
