About Alex Train

Serving as the Chief Operating Officer of La Colaborativa, under the leadership of the President and Executive Vice President, Alex Train is a thoughtful, strategic leader with a background in urban planning, community development, and senior management. Grounded in a commitment to serving the community, he leads diverse teams, manages complex systems, and marshals resources to advance solutions to promote a just, equitable future. These efforts occur at intersection of housing stability, economic mobility and development, open space, physical and digital infrastructure development, and climate resiliency. Alex has forged coalitions, cultivated emerging leaders, and fostered partnerships to achieve lasting results, with a focus on serving marginalized communities. Notably, this has included the creation and expansion of dignified social, economic, housing, and human services, which prioritize upward mobility, while sustainably scaling organizations to proactively meet the needs of residents. Projects include the design, delivery, and evaluation of direct services; oversight of affordable and mixed income housing development projects; transportation and infrastructure planning, design, financing, and construction; small business and entrepreneurship development; urban economic development; neighborhood planning and vitality; real estate planning and development, including institutional, housing, commercial, and open space; climate adaptation, community resilience, and sustainability initiatives; strategic planning and organizational growth; business process improvements; and the design and implementation of novel housing stability, economic mobility, and social programs. A through line to his work, Alex ardently believes that the field of community development should have enduring, transformative effects on the daily lives of residents, specifically residents frequently marginalized by our current systems.
