About Alex Trompeter

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgeon in one of London’s four Major Trauma Centres. My clinical practice is almost exclusively confined to the management of fractures, as well as the consequences of trauma such as non-union, infection, malunion/deformity correction and amputation. I hold the position of Professor of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery, at City St George’s University of London and have a keen interest in Academia. I successfully defended my PhD thesis on the management of tibial trauma in 2023. I provide expert witness services for Personal injury / Multiple Injury / Serious Injury; Clinical Negligence relating to fractures, fracture surgery, complications of fractures and their surgery, bone infection, non union, deformity correction, limb reconstruction, amputation and compartment syndrome. I have completed fellowship training in the United Kingdom in fracture surgery and limb reconstruction, at the Rowley Bristow Orthopaedic Unit in Chertsey, and also the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Furthermore I have completed an AO visiting trauma fellowship to Calgary, Canada. I won the Gold Medal in my FRCS examination year. I have a major interest in postgraduate education. I am an Educational Supervisor and Clinical Supervisor for many trainees of all levels and was previously Training Programme Director for the South West London Orthopaedic Rotation. I teach and lecture on numerous national and international courses/meetings educating surgeons around the world. I am an executive member of the British Orthopaedic Association Trauma Committee, and the British Limb Reconstruction Society. I am the lead for trauma BOASTs in the UK overseeing the production of our national guidelines.
