Background
About Alex Urmeneta
I am a researcher and educational consultant exploring how AI is shaping the future of education. My work is centred on the systemic challenges AI poses and how education is uniquely positioned to face those challenges in the future. Over the last two decades, I've worked across classrooms, ministries, universities, and EdTech startups to design and implement learning experiences that are responsive, research-informed, and built for system-level impact. I'm also the founder of Train, a consultancy focused on empowering policy makers and education stakeholders through evidence-based strategies, curriculum innovation, and gamified professional development. Currently, I'm a researcher at the Université Côte d'Azur, contributing to EU Horizon-level consortiums focused on AI, education, and policy. In 2024, I co-edited and co-authored, Creative Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education (Palgrave Macmillan), which has reached nearly 100k downloads within its first year.
