About Alex Velsink

I am passionate about all things related to waste management and sustainability. I strongly believe that we need to work together to create a sustainable future, by closing loops in our "take-make-waste" society and moving to a circular economy. My current work contributes to finding solutions to diverting waste, reducing climate impacts, and creating healthier communities. I completed my Master of Natural Resource Management (MNRM), wjere I researched deconstruction of Canada's built environment as a method for waste diversion, with a focus on single and double-family homes. In this research, I explored the environmental, economic, social, and public health benefits of deconstruction. Through interviews and a focus group, I was able to identify barriers to municipal building deconstruction policies and programs, determining best practices, and formulating policy recommendations. I have a strong background in waste management, reduction, diversion, and education, and am always seeking opportunities to further her knowledge and experience in the field.
