I am delighted to have joined Miretti - the global leaders in ATEX engineering - as the new Operations Manager for UK & Ireland. In this newly created role I intend to build on Miretti's fifty years of excellence and strong reputation by working with our team of highly experienced engineers to deliver safety and innovation to both current and new customers. I welcome the opportunity to discuss the existing and upcoming solutions Miretti can offer to customers across the UK and Ireland as we expand our presence in the region. Alongside my role at Miretti I have recently enrolled on a two-year, part-time Masters in Engineering Management degree at the University of Hull, studying evenings and weekends. The benefits to my day-to-day work are already being proven as I gain greater insight into better management practises, implementation of lean tools and techniques to improve quality and process efficiency.In my previous role as Engineering Manager at Flametec I managed a team of engineers, workshop and non-technical staff with responsibility for innovative design and implementation of new products for ATEX Zone 1, 2, 21 and 22, spare parts sales and service & maintenance of equipment in the field. Annual budget, monthly reporting, marketing and continuous development of the quality management system were also key to my role.Maintaining focus on design improvements and staff development through training and mentoring enabled the business to continually increase efficiency and output to remain competitive in the market. I dealt directly with new and existing customers, which took me across Europe and the Middle East and enabled me to develop relationships with an international client base for global markets. These customers varied from site engineering staff, to designers and senior management teams.
