About Alex Wilkinson

I help researchers, clinicians and industry develop their ideas into business cases for new medical technologies. Working from ideation, unmet need validation, proof of market through to clinical validation studies, and raising investment. I am a translational medicine professional having worked in both industry, academia and with large funders such as the NIHR, Medical Research Council and VC's. My early background is in clinical trials having worked in most roles including management giving me a complete picture of the process. Later I joined academia to help support technologies earlier in development. My personal interests are medical technologies, commercialisation, strategy development, mentoring and supporting others to achieve their ambitions in this industry. I currently support researchers through The Commercialisation Journey, a program of intensive support, training and mentoring developed by the University of Sheffield. I am also the designer and lead for the medical technology specific program.
