About Alex Xicay

I am a dedicated social work professional passionate about promoting mental health and well-being, particularly among underserved communities. Born in Guatemala and raised in Los Angeles, I bring lived experience and cultural insight into my work. I have provided mental health services in diverse settings, including schools, shelters, and community organizations, supporting clients facing challenges such as trauma, homelessness, and systemic barriers. My professional experience includes individual therapy, group counseling, crisis intervention, and facilitating workshops on emotional regulation and mindfulness. I am skilled at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic care tailored to each client's unique needs. With a deep understanding of the barriers many face in accessing mental health services, I am committed to providing culturally competent, trauma-informed care to empower individuals and families. I aspire to continue serving in public mental health settings while building toward a private practice that offers accessible, affordable services to clients of all ages. My journey of overcoming personal struggles has instilled in me a profound empathy and resilience that guide my approach to supporting others in their mental health journeys.
