About Alexa Burns

Hi! My name is Alexa and I am am currently a fourth-year Architectural Engineering student at The University of Texas at Austin, driven by a passion for integrating innovative design with practical engineering solutions. My academic foundation includes coursework in structural analysis, mechanics, and building systems, preparing me to tackle complex challenges in the built environment. Professionally, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience through internships with Gilbane Building Company and Linbeck Group LLC. These roles sharpened my project management, workflow optimization, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, as I contributed to projects ranging from multi-phase commercial builds to specialized MRI facilities. This summer, I am thrilled to deepen my global perspective through a study abroad program in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan, focusing on cutting-edge design methodologies, sustainability, and cultural exchange. I am eager to bring my blend of technical expertise, leadership experience, and global insights to impactful projects in the engineering and construction fields. When I'm not immersed in my studies or work, you'll find me on the lacrosse field or pursuing my love for travel and outdoor sports. Or visiting my family in Phoenix, AZ!
