About Alexa de Koning

I’m a second year Commerce student at Dalhousie University interested in majoring in Finance. I am an individual with strong research and analytical skills, proficiency in MS office with a focus on Excel, and have strong oral communication skills. During my time as a Data Analyst Intern, I conducted research on how to improve the company’s productivity on the factory floor. I used my analytical skills to create an Excel spreadsheet to track 10 employees time sheets and using this information I provided suggestions on how to improve employees productivity. In addition, I enrolled in a Quantitative Decision-making course (COMM1503) at Dalhousie and gained an even greater understanding of how to use Microsoft Excel to manipulate spreadsheets and organize financial statement data.During my two consecutive years as captain of my competitive dance team, I needed to have strong oral communication skills in order to keep the team organized and running smoothly. As captain, I was highly motivated to see the team succeed, but I needed to be flexible in my approach to best support every dancer to be their best in a challenging and fast-paced environment.As a second year student I’m currently looking for entry level positions in a dynamic business environment. I have a lot to learn and am always excited at the opportunity to meet and connect with others.
