About Alexa Rust
I am currently working at ioCurrents since February 2019. After working in the industry for 3 years, I finished my double degree, dual BS/BA, in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Philosophy from the University of Washington by taking a final class in Computational Biology Autumn quarter 2018. I also took a course to get my USCG Captains license - it's something I have always wanted to do. Previously, I was a software engineer at Socrata for three years. In my time there I was on various backend teams supporting the core parts of the Socrata platform. I largely worked on efforts to support and migrate to an improved version of the backend for writing, storing, and querying customers’ data. I left Socrata in June 2018 to pursue a dream of much madness: Team Ravenous, Race to Alaska 2018. We sailed a 20' open beach cat from Port Townsend, WA to Victoria BC, finishing in Ketchikan, AK.
