About Alexander Bartman

Alexander Bartman is a Director and Writer currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Inspired to become a rule-breaking filmmaker, he dedicated himself to learning the rules so that he might break them more fully and artistically. To this end, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Cinema Production at Point Park University. He specializes in writing scripts for Short Films, Feature Films, Documentaries, Promos & Commercials, and Voice-Over Work. Alexander has directed Several Short films ranging from dramatic to experimental. His films tend to place character’s in a world that is out of their control as well as tackling sensitive or taboo subject matter. He is a Technical Director focusing on the aspects of each scene and shot but encourages his actor’s to improvise and understands the acting process. He is a cinephile by nature and is quite knowledgeable on film history and theory with both U.S. and Foreign films. Alexander is a great admirer of the Slow Cinema of International Films emphasizing long takes and static camera work in his own films. His main career goal is to write and direct twelve feature films of his own.
