About Alexander Buchanan

I wear many hats throughout the software development and deployment life cycle, but am seeking to narrow down my selection of hats to a more data oriented hat. I primarily have worked in python, for machine learning, data engineering, general programming, and scripting. These skills have allowed me to setup numerous standalone production-ready web services and machine learning models. These models typically run on Linux systems, whether on premise or in the cloud. I also have worked in a variety of production environments that utilize Linux systems, typically working with Debian or Fedora based distributions. With this experience the command line has become a friend and power tool rather than a frightening utility Linux systems provide. With this knowledge I have created entire cloud-based infrastructure from end to end to implement algorithms, whether they be web services, or machine learning models. The maintenance and upkeep of these systems is largely autonomous and their creation automated via Salt Stack. I also have done some serious work in SQL (specifically PostgreSQL), while working on data intense projects for machine learning, generating reports, or typical programming usage. I also have quite a bit of experience writing procedures, including those for automated Type-4 SCD with the use of history tables.
