PhD work: More housing due to the traffic transformation? How does the city look like after the traffic transformation? Could the traffic transformation re-shape the built environment in our cities, which was for about a century shaped by car-friendly urban- and transport planning? Anyone who walks through our cities with their eyes wide open quickly realizes that automobile infrastructure is taking up large urban areas through petrol stations, car washes, garages, car dealerships, car rental agencies, parking garages, tire dealers and recycling centres. Alexander's work records this and investigates how much of this space will still be needed after the transformation and whether areas of automotive infrastructure could be used for housing, climate adaptation measures or urban agriculture.
