About Alexander Oconnor

My name is Alex O'Connor, I am a fourth-year marketing student at Miami University's Farmer School of Business. I have a diversified interest in various entertainment industries including film media and sports marketing to coincide with my solidified understanding of the world of business. I am looking forward to job opportunities ahead of this upcoming summer. Here on campus, I have been involved in a variety of organizations and teams that have bolstered my variety of skills that make me the leader I am. At the culmination of my freshman year we participated in the KeyBank Client Challenge where I built my team and organizational skills through real problem solving. In my sophomore year I gained two new executive positions. One as a coordinator for my fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, where I built my managerial skills by restructuring the new member development program. Secondly I gained the position of social chair for the Miami sports marketing club, where I enhanced my communication skills through continuous conversation with members, the exec team, other clubs, and distinguished professionals. In addition to my involvement in organizations and teams, I also have now five+ years of work experience in both the retail and customer service industries. Both have allowed me to build a strong base for the skills I have built upon at my time here at Miami University. In attention to paid work experience, I also have spent time as a volunteer. Through my diversified experience in positions held in organizations and teams, I have discovered the elements of the business world that I truly feel I fit in to. Not only have I discovered my strengths and weaknesses, but most importantly I have realized myself as a business professional capable of excelling in multiple industries.
