About Alexander Plum

Alex started his professional life in the mid-nineties as part of the first wave of digital pioneers in Europe. Back then “we were absolutely fascinated by the conceptual and technological possibilities of the then new HTML code”. He was part of one of the first digital agencies in Germany and together with his team brought this new technology to life, creating digital products and business models for clients. His agency road trip ended in a team which built up the digital unit of PUBLICIS in Berlin – an absolute inspiring time with fascinating colleagues. During that time Alex successfully studied Computer and Economic Science as well as Product Design. In the early Digital Marketing and Digital Business Models where still in its infancy and the digital transformation of classical business models were just beginning. A very interesting and pulsating time. As head of marketing-communications for trade fairs such as gamescom or dmexco, Alex was able to combine digital thinking with a physical trade fair venue and cut his teeth in ESG by founding the Carbon Expo emissions trading trade fair together with the World Bank. Alex is currently a vice president, responsible for the Product Management at Deutsche Post. Together with his teams, he works every day to make mail products more convenient, digital, sustainable, enabling them to deliver happiness. Since joining in 2011, Alex has enjoyed the incredibly inspiring and truly free working environment at DPDHL. “Working together with the most brilliant colleagues you can imagine has been terrific.” Together with his team, Alex has digitized and simplified the operations of print mailings, made letter and print mailings trackable by introducing and using matrix code and modern ID-technology, digitized and simplify the access to physical letters, brought the stamp into a new (digital) dimension, made letters climate-neutral by using carbon insetting techniques, or digitized the return receipt for registered mail. “All these projects and new products would not have been possible without the incredible spirit of Deutsche Post DHL and my colleagues.
