Classic Japanese role-playing games fascinate me in their vast originality compared to the dark, realistic designs created primarily in the west. My character concept work aims for elegance and power into breathe life to even the most lifeless of characters. I strive to generate a balance in character creativity and practicality to stimulate the player. I believe that the character’s personality must be instantly understood from the design decisions I make relative to the character’s staple expressions, equipment, and apparel. I find that heavy exaggeration of style will always be more acceptable and appealing compared to realistic and practical designs. As I pursue my interest in game character art, I continue to study the various designs made by other professional artists and the history of different cultures. My awareness of the form has been polished through my drawing and life drawing experiences during my education. I wish to continue to keep creative medieval styles of traditional role-playing games alive and vibrant, even when they are at their darkest forms. My technique focuses on the sharpness of my lines and forms while corresponding gracefully with the color palette. The current theme of my figures melds both medieval armor and modern technology together to have complete synergy, creating a unique distinguishable look while staying practical to its character. My intent is to design not only the best concept designs but also a brand new, unique world to refresh both players and potential clients.
