About Alexandra Atack

A passion for sport has been evident throughout my life, directing my academic studies, work interests and hobbies. I completed a PhD in The Biomechanics of Rugby Place Kicking and am an Associate Professor in Sport Biomechanics at St Mary's University, Twickenham. Additionally, I am the Research Lead for the School of Sport, Exercise and Applied Sciences and Course Lead for the MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Biomechanics. In addition to teaching and research supervision responsibilities, I am responsible for the strategic oversight of research activities within the School. Whilst my focus is currently in the field of biomechanics, I previously worked for Nuffield Health as a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist. This job required me to perform health assessments on both corporate and private clients, conducting a number of tests such as exercise ECGs, spinal assessments, venepuncture and food diary analysis as well as coaching them on how to adopt healthier lifestyles. Outside of work I spend my time watching a variety of sports, particularly Dulwich Hamlet Football Club where I was Co-Chair of the Supporters Trust, with a particular focus on securing fan ownership of the football club.
