RESEARCH TOPICS- interactions between cementitious matrices, organic matter and microorganisms both in aqueous and air media- understanding of the phenomenology of these interactions in order to improve the durability and the quality of concrete constructions. Skills: durability, microstructure and chemistry of cementitious materials. I carry out multidisciplinary research, involving notably microbiology, analytical chemistry, and geochemistry skills. Detailed topics-Durability of cementitious materials in agro-industrial environments (chemical and biological attack)-Reactivity of nitrates at the concrete-bitumen interface in nuclear waste long term repository -Development and assessment of photocatalytic coatings intended for building materials that aim (a) to improve the quality of outdoor and indoor air and (b) to prevent the proliferation of microorganisms (bacteria, algae, fungi) on concrete walls in air media-Valorisation of (by-)products derived from the agro-food industry for the development of agents intended for concrete and bitumen materials TEACHING ACTIVITIES Essentially around Structural calculation (lectures, tutorials, and practical works): Strength of Materials, structural design, Eurocodes and loads’ calculations (Eurocode 1), Steel construction (EC 3).
