About Alexandra Boitor

Enthusiastic Scientific Officer at EACR with a Doctor of Philosophy focused in Cancer Genetics from University of Nottingham, School of Life Sciences. I am passionate about cancer research in general and I have a demonstrated history of working in cancer research in academia. I started working in cancer research during my MSc degree in Prof. Manuela Banciu's laboratory at Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) where I contributed to a study looking at optimising existent anti-cancer treatment by nanoencapsulation of cytostatic drugs such as 5-FU. I then continued with a PhD at University of Nottingham under the supervision of Dr. Marios Georgiou and Dr. Ruman Rahman where I studied the involvement of ING1 in cell invasion and cell-cell adhesion. Further on I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Leicester investigating the 3D structure of chromatin under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Schalch. I am currently using my skills towards facilitating the development of a strong, open, cross- border scientific community.
