About Alexandra Cook

Alexandra Cook has 10+ years of professional experience in the dance field as a performer, choreographer, educator, and arts manager. She is the Youth and Family Programs Director for Mark Morris Dance Group, a role in which she oversees programming, faculty development, earned and contributed income efforts, professional development, and classroom support for The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center and its Community Education programs. Alex trained extensively in classical ballet and further studied a variety of modern dance techniques and West African dance while at Denison University, where she double majored in Dance and Economics (BA). Performance credits include Fusionworks Modern Dance, the State Ballet of Rhode Island, with ACW Dances, and multiple venues as a freelance artist. Alex was the Artistic Director of WorkHorse Dance Project and her choreography has been presented by Gibney, the idance festival 2014 (Hong Kong), Dixon Place, SharedSpace at the Mark Morris Dance Center, Center for Performance Research, Triskelion Arts, the Women’s Choreography Project (RI), with Fusionworks Modern Dance, and more. She has been published by Dance Magazine and Dance Ed Tips. Alex has experience teaching children through adults, beginner dancers through advanced, and for a variety of learning support needs, including English Language Learners, students with Down Syndrome, and those on the Autism spectrum. A favorite teaching credit was with Chadwick International in Incheon, South Korea, where she created, launched, and managed the dance program from 2012-2015. Alex is in the midst of completing the Performing Arts Management MFA program at Brooklyn College, with an expected graduation date of May 2024.
