About Alexandra Cotrufo

A high school creative writing class sparked my interest in how we communicate with one another and the relationship between sound, text, and imagery. This interest led me to peruse a BA in Professional Communication to further explore the broad world of communication strategies and how we interact and exist within spaces. In my senior year of university, I started thinking about life after graduation and the career I pictured for myself. Alongside my interest in communication, I also have a passion for animal and environmental welfare and I try to be conscious every day about the impact my actions have on the planet. Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I enrolled in the Brock University Sustainability Science and Society program, which I recently graduated from. My Major Research Paper focused on the risk of greenwashing in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communications and how marketing practitioners can be more transparent with consumers. I believe communication plays a critical role in helping society transition toward a more sustainable future. My experience with customer service, corporate affairs, climate change, and social media management has expanded my skillset and broadened my understanding of the power of communication.
