About Alexandra Cotter

I am a highly motivated and passionate PA-C working in rural community health and primary care. My previous positions have included work as a physician assistant in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Duke University Medical Center for 4.5 years, Duke Vascular and Endovascular Surgery for 1.5 years. Additionally, I completed a 13-month post graduate training at the Physician Assistant Surgical Residency at Duke University Medical Center right after I received my physician assistant training at the University of Bridgeport's Physician Assistant Institute in May 2015. Prior to PA school, my background includes working at Morristown Medical Center as an emergency room patient care technician, and as an EMT for Atlantic Ambulance servicing Northern New Jersey and events at the Prudential Center Arena. I also have extensive volunteer experience with the Summit First Aid Squad and South Orange Rescue Squad. Before deciding to become a PA, I dabbled with teaching, working as a substitute in elementary through middle school, taught sewing and crochet in a summer arts school, as well as served as a field hockey coach. I hope to one day give back to the medical community and teach physician assistant students. My hobbies include woodworking, with an emphasis in creating furniture from found wood, as well as almost any outdoor activity including downhill skiing, hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, fly fishing, and still playing field hockey and lacrosse if I can find it!
