About Alexandra Doucette

I am an experienced customer service professional currently working in memory care and music therapy. As a NCCAP certified activity professional, I provide compassionate social, motor, and cognitive enrichment to over 70 long term care residents with Alzheimer's, while building relationships and offering emotional support to residents and their families. I perform intake assessments, periodic and episodic charting, supervise the volunteer program of over 40 student and adult volunteers, train new activity staff, and work closely with other departments to ensure that our residents are receiving the highest level of care. My proudest accomplishment at The Manor has been revamping and supervising the Music & Memory program, which enables dementia patients to come alive once again through music from their past. Using donated iPods, I create personalized playlists based on each person's music taste. I have witnessed non-verbal patients begin to sing in their native language. It has been a beautiful and life-changing experience. I have over a decade of restaurant hospitality experience, working for celebrity chef Bobby Flay at Gato NYC, serving VIP clientele at well-known establishments such as Asellina at the Gansevoort Hotel and The Marlton Hotel in NYC, and The Foundation Room at House of Blues Boston. The exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills that I have gained during this time are invaluable and I have developed a true passion for providing the highest level of customer care. The decades that I have spent as a performer and musician have given me the abilities and qualities required in many professional settings. Since childhood, I have honed my skills, performing at venues such as Madison Square Garden at a Knicks halftime competition, Boston Symphony Hall with Handel & Haydn Young Women’s Chorus, The Bitter End NYC, Asbury Park’s Stone Pony, Wonder Bar, Convention Hall, and House of Independents. The music awards and scholarships that I obtained as a student speak to the early development of my ambition and work ethic. Currently, I am seeking a career change to customer service, business, marketing or social media. I am eagerly looking into certifications in marketing and business at local colleges to supplement my B.A. in psychology, and have hopes to begin my Master's degree in the spring of 2021.
