About Alexandra Hamilton

I am the senior engineer and manager of the technical team at the South East Energy Agency, since I joined the agency in 2015. In this time we have grown from a team of 8 to a team of 25 in Q1 2024, emphasising the ever growing importance and critical nature of what we do. I am a Certified Energy Manager (AEE) and a Registered Energy Auditor (REA). I have completed training in project management, public procurement, public works contracts, managing safely in construction and managing people. I am highly experienced in implementing projects in the public, private and community sectors relating to energy efficiency and renewable technologies. I am a specialist in public sector energy management, including the statutory Monitoring & Reporting of energy data, in-line with SI 426 of 2014. I have also been appointed SEAI advisor to for the M&R process, and I provide training and advice to public bodies to ensure they meet their statutory obligations. I am an appointed SEAI Partnership Support Manager (PSM) and advisor to a number of public bodies and advise in best practice energy management implementation and Climate Action Planning. I have project managed a number of SEAI Better Energy Community Grant projects in since 2014, delivering over €16m of projects and drawing down over €7million grant for our partners. I specialise in community renewables, and have experience working on a number of community engagement plans for renewable projects, including the Aran Islands Energy Co-op, South Kerry Development Partnership and Templederry Community Energy Supply Ltd. I have vast experience working on EU funded projects, including writing work packages and successfully coordinating with EU partners to complete proposal documents for various H2020 Interreg funded projects. I hold a First Class Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Waterford Institute of Technology, and an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (BA, BAI) from Trinity College Dublin. I am highly competent working with computers and have a good operating knowledge of Microsoft Office, Autocad, SPSS, QuarkXpress, Photoshop, CONVAL, IES, Dialux, TM22, and SBEM.
