About Alexandra Jackson

Alex (she/her) has been working at Niagara College as a research project manager under the Community Services & Health Sciences divisions since 2019. Under that division, Alex most recently assisted with an age-friendly initiative to assess the needs of current and potential students aged 50+. In January 2025, Alex was transferred over to the Research & Innovation division to spearhead the newly launched Health Aging & Wellness (HAWIC) Research & Innovation Centre. Here, Alex aims to establish partnerships, build connections, and provide support for innovative and applied research projects in the field of aging. Alex brings expertise to HAWIC with her background in gerontological research. She is currently completing her PhD online through Queen's University, where her dissertation aims to explore the meaning of assistive technologies used by persons with Multiple Sclerosis who wish to age-in-place in their own homes and communities. She previously worked as a research assistant with AGE-WELL and completed her master's thesis at the University of Western Ontario. Prior to her graduate studies, Alex worked for a number of years in the retirement community sector running programs and activities for residents. She is also currently a member of the Age-Friendly Niagara Council and the endMS Education and Training Committee.
