About Alexandra Watts

I’m an award-winning audio storyteller currently producing, reporting, and hosting science content for The Arizona Republic. As host, producer, and reporter on The Lab at azcentral, I take complex scientific research and make it clear and concise for our audience. I also aim to make these episodes, and all of my work, engaging. It could be responding to listener inquiries, having conversations with a diverse set of people, or spending time in the archives to provide context for a story. Before coming back to my beloved home state of Arizona, I was part of an initiative between WFAE, a public radio station, and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. This partnership allowed me to learn and listen from the community and respond to their questions with engaging audio and digital content. I also have been a corps member with Report for America, where my award-winning work has appeared on NPR newscasts, All Things Considered, and Here & Now, as well as in USA Today. I’ve also been a fellow in IWMF’s Gwen Ifill Mentorship Program and NPR’s Next Generation Radio. In my spare time, I like to spend time in record stores, travel, and indulge my creative side by drawing and crafting.
