About Alexandre Mathis

Since January 2021, Alexandre Mathis has been working in the Secretariat of the Sub-Committee on Tax Matters From February 2012 to December 2020, Alexandre Mathis worked in the Policy Department for Budgetary Affairs which supports the Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Budgetary Control of the European Parliament. After a stay at the European University Institute in Firenze (Italy) where he finished his thesis, he started his professional career as a researcher at the “Observatoire Français des Conjonctures Economiques” (Paris), an independent economic analysing and forecasting organisation where he was responsible for quantitative analyses applied to macroeconomic topics. He also taught economics and econometrics/statistics in several universities. He then moved to the private financial sector where he was a senior economist, responsible for the quantitative unit in a large French private bank. After these enriching experiences both in the academic area and in the international financial sector, he moved to the European Commission where he was in charge of strategic and economic support in the taxation area. Subsequently, for the internal market Directorate-General, he carried-out impact assessments and evaluations and provided economic analysis in financial markets developments. He is a doctor in mathematical economics and econometrics from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and holds an accreditation to supervise research ("habilitation à diriger des recherches") from the University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne.
