About Alexandre Simioni

Consultant for the Integrated Training Service (ITS), Department of Peace Operations, UNHQ. Former Consultant for the Office of Information and Communications Technology/UNHQ and Technology Development, Design and Planning Section | UNGSC-Valencia. Former Training Officer in the ITS/UNHQ (2013-2016; 2018- 2022). I also worked in the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) as a Military Observer from 2009 to 2010. My main responsibilities were to plan, design, coordinate, conduct, evaluate and report Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) activities for Military personnel from Member States to be deployed to various UN Peacekeeping Operations, including Training of Trainers (ToT), workshops, Assessment and Advisory Visits (AAV), among others. Since 2018, I had the opportunity to plan, coordinate and conduct Training of Trainers courses to more than 200 Training Officers from more than 30 different Member States on Protection of Civilians, Staff Officers and Military Observers in different opportunities. As a Colonel from the Brazilian Marine Corps, I have over 31 years of service. I had the opportunity to be Platoon Commander, Company Commander, Operational and Intelligence Staff Officer as well as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff in different Units of the Brazilian Marine Corps. In relation to my work experience as a Trainer, I worked as the Chief and Instructor of the Marine Corps Study Division of the Naval War College, Academic Work Division of the Marine Corps Study Center and Communication School of the Marine Instruction Center. Also, I worked as a temporary instructor of the Brazilian Joint Operation Peacekeeping Training Center and Naval Peacekeeping Training Center during the PDT courses to the Brazilian troops to be deployed to MINUSTAH and UNIFIL and during the courses to officers selected to be deployed to UNPKOs as UN Staff Officers or Military Observers. I graduated from all major educational institutions in the Brazilian Navy required to become a commander and senior officer. I hold a Master Degree in Military Operations and Command Staff College; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from St. Andrews University, UK; a Certificate in Leadership and Decision Making from Harvard University, USA; a Master Degree in Military Operations – Command and Control, Brazilian Army; and a Master Degree in History with focus on international relations and terrorism, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am also a Certified Training Professional by the ARTDO International - Institute of Training and Development (ITD).
