About Alexei Kischuk

Whenever someone asks how I found my passion as an Engineering Manager, I always tell them the same thing: I've had a lot of bad managers. My leadership style is not traditional, nor do I have a collection of one-size-fits-all playbooks. Instead, I am a collaborative leader who listens and tailors the solution to the problem and the people of the organization, striking the right balance between people and operations. Engineering teams often don't want another individual contributor when looking for a leader. They want someone who can bring change, direction, coaching, and advocacy for the team, all while thinking multiple steps ahead. While some managers are just focused on their teams, I'm also focused on solving engineering-wide problems because they can have significant impact on team morale. Fueled by autonomy, I work best when I have the space to grow and it's important for my teams to also have that same freedom. I am a builder, not a maintainer and I find more comfort in the unknown than I do following a routine. Specialties- Startups (Series A and beyond)- Roadmapping with high accuracy and achievability - Interrupt-driven or high interrupt teams - Building high-performing teams - Balancing people and operations - Getting large engineering projects to the finish line - Cross-functional teams (I've successfully led teams with back-end, front-end, full-stack, infrastructure, platform, QA/SDET, and mobile engineers)
