About Alexia Hamelink

An undeniable connection to the land drives me to explore avenues of landscape intervention which work with, not in-spite of, our beautiful whenua, our country. I bring a passion into my work with a feeling of guardianship/kaitiaki and empathy for all things natural. A belief that we are here to nurture and improve what we have for the benefit of our children and their children keeps me striving for better solutions to community, national and global needs. Overseas travel followed by a degree in Science (BSc) from Massey University planted the seed of my passion for our unique native landscape and the special qualities Aotearoa/New Zealand has in this world. Years of practical experience landscaping and gardening for private clients and businesses gave me a solid base in the real world and has allowed rewarding relationships to be built over time. Another degree from Lincoln University in Landscape Architecture has allowed me to enter the professional world with a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for enhancing Aotearoa/New Zealand's green and healthy future. Wide open spaces, and places with meaning inspire me to create deeper, richer experiences for our thriving communities. Using a combination of technology - from Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Vectorworks through to Excel and Word, I can create solutions for a range of projects.
