About Alexis Petrowski

I begun my journey in the customs industry in 2020. Specializing in imports into Canada, I've worked hard to become someone that the company can rely on; taking on significant projects which include: clearing two years' worth of backlog corrections at record pace, establishing and expanding internal spreadsheets and SOPs, general tariff and SIMA inquiries, and successfully leading or supporting multiple audits, rulings, and drawback claims for our clients. I started at Border Brokers as the receptionist, setting up accounts and acting as a switch-board operator. It wasn't long before I was onboarding and working with new clients and tasked with database cleanup. My quick work of the database cleanup, efficiency, and attention to detail led to assisting our Director of Compliance with the B2 submissions. What started as a temporary project to clean up the backlog turned into a permanent addition to my day-to-day tasks. By late 2021, I was a member of both the Client Relations Team and Compliance Dept-my role expanding to include B2 submissions, applying and submitting CERS declarations, and working on audits for customs on top of my regular duties of client inquiries and account setups. In December 2023, I parted from the Client Relations Team and fully assimilated into the compliance department alongside earning my CCS certification in the fall. I have also been assisting with the CLVS program; reviewing and submitting entries since November 2024 and have done so with a consistent level of precision and care. This task has directly improved our databases, with ongoing cleanup work, part auditing, and clarification of notes and outdated documentation on client and vendor files, alongside providing client education on import regulations. I’ve explained topics like CUSMAs, Free-Trade, and classification to our clients. Dedicated and helpful, I push myself to reach my goals and to help others, maintaining a cheerful attitude, taking pride in my work and accomplishments, and always looking to expand my skillset and learning new things!
