I am a Mexican professional boxing Champion who has participated in the most notorious fights, in the biggest stages, with the most power promoters and against the most renowned names in professional boxing. As an amateur, I excelled with an impressive record of 80 wins with only 10 losses, travel all over the World to participate in International Tournaments and was an alternate for the Mexican Team in the Sidney Olympics. After being voted "Fan Favorite" by 10.2 million people in the television reality show "The Contender" on NBC with Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard in 2004, my popularity exploded internationally. I fought 11 times under The Contender banner. Along the way, I retired boxing legend Arturo Gatti and fought for the World Title against international star, Miguel Cotto. I fought for Bob Arums' Top Rank Promotions from 2008 to 2010. During my affiliation with Top Rank immediately beat Jesus Soto Karass for the WBC Continental Americas Title and defended my title successfully in 4 rounds against Jose Luis Castillo, retiring yet another boxing legend In 2010, I parted from Top Rank and joined Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. I knocked out Calvin Green in 2 rounds which propelled me toward my second World Title Shot against another international star, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Out of 31 fights, I has been on national and international television 23 times, fighting on NBC, TV Azteca, Televisa, Telefutura, Telemundo, ESPN, Fox Sports, HBO, Showtime and PPV.
