About Ali Bhatti

I have a PhD in agriculture as well as qualifications & experience in Agricultural research and developments. I have worked in several organisations in various capacities and gained valuable scientific experience. I have accumulated more than 15 years of wide experience in many facets of agricultural technology in Australia. Currently I am working as a Plant Breeders Rights Examiner in Plant Breeders Rights Office, a division of Intellectual Property Australia. As an Examiner of PBR, I have gathered sufficient knowledge and expertise to assess number of plant varieties, agricultural crops, pastures, forestry, fruits, vegetable, ornamentals and Australian native plants for PBR right’s of grant. One of my current roles in PBR is responsible for DUS trial examination, for evaluating and identifying new plant varieties. Working as an examiner also provide me an opportunity to use my extensive experience of research and analysing that I have gained through the completion of my PhD from the School of Plant Biology at the University of Western Australia (UWA)in the field of Plant Population Genetics for writing a thesis titled “ Genetic variation in naturalised wild radish”.
