About Ali Cooper

I have now retired! Hitherto I worked independently as a freelance educational development consultant. Having worked at Liverpool John Moored and Lancaster Universities, I worked part-time at University of Liverpool, and was an external reviewer and examiner for several HEA accredited CPD schemes and PGCerts. Until May 2020 I worked as an HEA consultant, and have been an HEA Accreditor for UKPSF recognition and accreditation since 2014 where I sat on recognition and accreditation panel applications. I was Director of Studies for HEA accredited Postgraduate Certificates in learning and teaching in HE in several UK universities and international partnership institutions in Malaysia and India. I was a teaching and curriculum advisor for over 24 years, and had a strong and up to date knowledge and understanding of the UK HE sector and how it relates to partnership institutions and transnational education. I worked with many individuals, academic departments and faculties on teaching and curriculum design, programme review, new course approval, project development and evaluation. I was a member of working parties on CPD, assessment and feedback, peer observation, and student transition amongst others. As an external examiner and external reviewer in seven other UK HE institutions, I advised many academic colleagues and teams on teaching, programme standards and course development. I sat on the SEDA Professional Development Framework committee, and on the editorial board of Innovations in Education and Teaching International journal. Currently I am learning the piano and eventing in running and cycling.
