About Ali Dakik

I am the founder of Samco Plastics Ltd and APPETITE, two businesses I built to serve very different but fast-growing sectors in Uganda. With Samco, I have been driven since 2014 to provide affordable and innovative flexible packaging solutions across sectors like beverages, detergents, pharmaceuticals, lubricants, and cosmetics. What began as a response to the need for juice packaging has grown into a trusted supplier for some of the region’s leading B2B firms. I am proud of the long-term customer relationships we have nurtured and the consistency we deliver. In 2020, I launched APPETITE, now Uganda’s largest pet store chain. We bring in premium pet food and accessories from around the world, addressing a market that’s shifting away from leftovers to more conscious and convenient pet nutrition. It’s a pioneering business in a young but rapidly evolving sector, and I am proud that we have taken the lead and built a significant market share. I oversee the day-to-day operations of both companies while also steering strategic growth. My focus is on creating solid companies that can withstand the test of time and remain innovative and adaptable to change. As a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), I continue to grow through peer learning, challenging my thinking, and expanding my network. I also serve as a board member of the Canine Association of Uganda, promoting ethical dog welfare in the country. I am always open to new opportunities, strategic partnerships, and conversations around scaling, investment, or eventual exits.
