Experienced psychologist with General Registration (AHPRA)+ Associate member of the Australian Psychology Society (Associate MAPS). Registered with Medicare, Sole contractor (ABN) through the Brisbane ACT Centre - Telehealth only. Post-graduate student of the Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists (AABCAP)- Ongoing monthly peer group supervision in Buddhism & Psychotherapy. Board approved Supervisor; STAP trained; passionate about mentoring/supervision & boosting less experienced clinicians sense of competence, confidence, holistic thinking powers & personal self-care. Trained in numerous therapies: ACT, DBT, CFT, CBT, MBT-F, FBT, CBT-e, SSCM (Eating Disorders), Risk Assessment & Safety Planning, Expressive therapies, Narrative Therapy. Trauma-Informed Practitioner. Over the last 20 years, my professional roles have included practicing within: Metro North Health, Metro South Health, inpatient + community mental health settings, private practice with adults and child protection fields as well as mental health assistant work in the UK in my younger years- Almost 5 years as a child safety officer many moons ago (hats off to those continuing the fight)- Six years in a psychology role at CYMHS (0-18 year olds + their families with severe + complex mental health issues) servicing the Bayside, Redlands, Islands catchment areas- Ten years as the senior psychology (HP4) representative in a hard-working multi-disciplinary team on an adolescent inpatient unit (Logan Hospital) in a culturally diverse catchment area- 16-month secondment as advanced psychologist (HP5) with Evolve Therapeutic Services (young people under the care of Child Safety with developmental trauma + mental health issues). I attribute my successful engagement with even difficult-to-reach young people and families in crisis to my authentic, empowering, practical and compassionate manner. I am dedicated to assisting people to find insight into their life challenges and in discovering how resilient they truly are. I am also a strong advocate for embedding self-care rituals into our often busy and chaotic lives; and am studying wellness coaching from an Ayurvedic (ancient yoga wisdom) perspective. Personal interests include: travel, personal development, reading, meditation, day trips, yoga, hiking, live music gigs & festivals, slam poetry, photography, animals & wildlife conservation, writing events, seeing friends & family, absorbing interesting / inspiring podcasts. I aspire to be a published children's author.
