About Ali Khazma

Eng. Khazma is a Sustainable Energy and Environment Expert with over 13 years’ professional experience in programs/projects management in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, RE integration into grids, green energy finance, RE project contracts/agreements and environment and social assessments in the Middle East and North Africa. Throughout his career, Eng. Khazma’s vast professional experience compasses: design and evaluate of electrical systems and stand-alone/utilities-interactive RE systems, integrating RE projects into grids including creating RE guidelines and grid connection codes, evaluation of PV’s FIT/net-metering schemes, development of smart grid roadmap, thermal/electrical energy audit and integrating solar thermal applications into industrial heat processes, identifying the financial and technical potential of eligible EE investment, development of RE tendering documents, leading and managing key environmental and social assessments in RE sector in compliance with IFIs standards and requirements to include: ESIAs, SESA, ESMMP, ESMS, SEP, ESDD, CEA, CHA, BMP, SOD-Program and FMP. Eng. Khazma has obtained Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Renewable Energy Branch) from Damascus University and Master of Science in Electrical Power and Machines Engineering “study of power quality performance for grid connected wind turbines in Zaafarana Wind Farm in compliance with IEC 61400-21” from Cairo University. Eng. Khazma's thematic expertise are as follows: wind energy, PV systems, renewable energy integration into power grids, modelling and simulation of electrical power systems and solar heat for industrial processes, advanced drive systems, research studies statistics and data analysis, thermal/electrical energy audit, solar thermal system design for industrial processes, green energy finance, Wind/PV projects contracts and agreements, environmental and social assessments, bird/bat monitoring protocols, bird/bat fatality monitoring protocols, predictive and responsive wind turbines shutdown protocols. Eng.
