About Ali Wareham

I am a highly experienced educator who has worked predominantly with 16-19 year olds and the mentoring and training of staff of that sector. Teaching and Education is one of my four careers having worked as a trainee actuary initially, in commercial radio as a Commercial Manager and as a Head of Education in professional sport at Southampton Football Club. In the latter role I was lucky enough to be a small part of a team who developed some incredible players including: Gareth Bale, Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott, Drew Surman and Nathan Dyer. I have mentored and been responsible for the training of many staff in my various leadership roles and in my role as Staff Development Officer for a large Sixth-Form College. I currently lead a team of 9 and adopt a democratic approach. I have always been able to formulate a cohesive group who interact well and work hard towards a common goal. Our results in the department are outstanding and we have the largest A-level PE cohort in the country. My relationships with people are paramount to my success. I am a very positive person and able to get the best out of others with an emphatic, understanding and supportive approach. I have always been able to communicate well in a variety of situations. My IT skills are excellent, a necessity in a changing educational environment. My work ethic has always been high throughout my career. I am extremely agile and able to adapt to new situations and demands. This was particularly prevalent during the pandemic when I had to learn 7 pieces of software in 3 weeks to enhance my new online teaching role and lead my department in the first ever production of centre and teacher assessed grades. Data analysis has always been an important part of a leadership role I have held, responding to trends but also being proactive to ensure continuous improvement.
