Background

About Alia H.

Junior legal professional passionate about the respect, defense, and promotion of Human Rights as entitlements granted to every human being by birthright. An enduring discomfort with the normalization of injustice has shaped my academic and professional choices, grounding my pursuit of roles centered on social justice, accountability, and the belief that no injustice should go undocumented or unaddressed. In my current role as a Humanitarian Data Analyst, I have contributed to assessing the impact of conflict and security incidents on civilian populations in Lebanon to support humanitarian organizations through qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform decision-making and response planning. I have also collaborated with technical teams to enhance data tools, facilitating improved usability and efficiency for analysts. Previous experiences include working with the Greenpeace MENA Office on a climate justice campaign in the lead-up to COP27, where I supported advocacy efforts focused on environmental accountability and the promotion of grassroots environmental organizations. I also volunteered with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), contributing to information management, data structuring, and quality control to help build a comprehensive picture of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Most recently, I interned with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), where I conducted legal research and supported the drafting of reports on counter-terrorism, transitional justice, and rule of law initiatives across various regions.
